Central Football Officials
From a very young age football was a big part of life for Tim Linnartz. Growing up in Kingston, New York he played at every opportunity and at every level. From his early years as a youth football star Tim transitioned to high school quarterback and ultimately played collegiately at Nassau Community College on Long Island. His passion for football began on those youth fields and it eventually led to a life-long involvement in a sport he grew up loving. In the 1980s Tim and his parents relocated to Boca Raton, Florida and that’s where he started his officiating career. His first assignments were at the youth flag football level. Eventually he moved back north to Connecticut and knowing he wanted to stay involved in officiating he joined the CCAFO and began working high school football in 1995. For the CCAFO Tim has served on the Better Officiating, Assignment and New Members Committees. Tim first playoff assignment was a 2002 memorable contest between Immaculate and Ansonia. In addition, he was assigned CIAC playoff games in 2004, 2008, 2013, 2016 and 2019. Tim joined the Connecticut Chapter of the EAIFO in 2000. His first NCAA Division III quarterfinal playoff game was in 2006 at Springfield College when the Pride hosted John Fisher College. Life would really come full circle for Tim when both of his kids eventually decided to attend Springfield College. Springfield already had a lot of meaning for him as his first big step in college football and now it includes even deeper family ties. His diligent work at the collegiate level led to Tim’s promotion to NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision in 2005. Tim is a very active member of the Connecticut Chapter of the EAIFO, serving on several committees and was elected President of the Chapter in 2010. He’s had the fortunate opportunity to be assigned NCAA playoff games in 2012 University of Maine at Appalachian State, 2016 the Centennial-MAC Bowl with Franklin & Marshall at Albright, and most recently this past November with Furman University at Austin Peay State University in Tennessee. Officiating football has given Tim opportunities to travel and see parts of the country he would have never been able to otherwise. He’s so grateful to everything he’s learned, the life-long friends he’s gained, and most of all, the joy this avocation has brought him for so many years. Who knew when he started playing youth football at the young age of 7, the sport would end up shaping his future, and having such a big impact on who he is today. Tim and his wife Lisa reside in Wethersfield with their two children Kristen and Tim, Jr.
